Twitter left befuddled as AB de Villiers misses the game against KKR

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on a super Sunday. Both the teams had suffered losses in their respective previous games and need a win to get their season back on track. The hosts must have been surely banking on their in-form player AB de Villiers to go bonkers with the form he is in this year. However, the skipper Virat Kohli shocked everyone when he informed that the champion South African cricketer was not playing as he was not feeling well.

De Villiers’ absence forced RCB to rethink their strategy and they brought about around 4 changes to their side for the game. Brendon McCullum was drafted into the playing XI at the expense of Corey Anderson while Tim Southee also made his debut for the franchise. Moreover, they lost the toss as well and once again the onus is on the batsmen to post a good total so that their struggling bowlers can defend it.

De Villiers’ form

AB de Villiers has been in great form this season and has won them a couple of games which are the only victories for RCB this season so far. He has so far scored 280 runs in six innings and is currently third on the list of the highest run-getters. Interestingly, the Superman from South Africa has scored all his runs at a trailblazing strike rate of 184.21. He has torn apart the bowlers on his day and was unfortunate to miss out on this crucial game. The way he has been moving in his crease just reminds of his prime and De Villiers has almost reached the same level this year.

Twitterati, however, was left heartbroken after they came to know about him missing the game. The crowd was in the Stadium to watch the special knock from him and their skipper Virat Kohli. But they will have to pray that the likes of Quinton de Kock and Brendon McCullum also work their magic in order to win them the match.
