Twitter Reaction: India bowling unit takes a massive beating

The India bowling unit, despite being rather strong took a massive beating as Virat Kohli’s initial start to his captaincy career in the limited-overs cricket got off to an England blitzkrieg. While one can take a dig at the Indian bowling, it seems quite clear that some of the England batting was quite amazing, the ground isn’t the biggest and the surface is in favor of the batsmen as well.
With some grass on the wicket and dampness, it was Virat who took the initiative to go ahead and field first. This was a decision that was to go awry in a few minutes given the fact that this was not the same England team that were lambs at the feet of the Indians. It was quite clear that the Indians were on the way towards the losing end of the spectrum while the likes of Jason Roy and Alex Hales simply waltzed in and swung the bat. It was however, the former who would go ahead and slam the ball to different parts of Pune while Joe Root played a more sophisticated innings as well.
There were only two bowlers who were able to get things under control and they were Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Perhaps they were the only bowlers to concede less than fifty runs on the day. England meanwhile went ahead and began to whack and crack the ball to different parts of the stadium as they went ahead and took great pride in a score in excess of 300.
Ben Stokes was perhaps the player who was able to create the most impact in the death overs with some fantastic batting, cracking 5 sixes in a compilation of 62 from just the 39 deliveries. Moeen Ali also batted with malaise before he was eventually undone by an Umesh Yadav Yorker. David Willey brought down the curtains on the innings as he smashed a six to complete the innings.
Here are the best tweets from the first innings:
Baffles me how Ashwin is an anti-thesis in ODIs. The inability of Indian spinners allowed England the confidence to post 350! #INDvENG

2nd time a team has scored 350+ in ODIs with none of their batsman going past 80. England scored 363/7 vs Pak in 1992 with a highest of 77.
