Twitter Reaction: Steve Smith discovers cricket's riskiest shot against spin
At the close of play on the first day, Steve Smith had a sinister smile on his face. Not because of the fact that Australia was making it count on the biggest stage, but because David Warner was slamming the ball to different parts of the WACA. On his day, Warner would have climbed on the score that was set by the Proteas.
However, this came to an end on the morning of the second day’s play where Steve Smith was out to what was perceived to be perhaps cricket’s riskiest shot in the book. Moreover, it was also quite a day for young Keshav Maharaj as the latter got the monkey off his back with his first Test wicket that being the scalp of the Australian skipper.
After four deliveries, the Australian skipper decided that it was time to get ahead of the game and revive the run rate that was set by David Warner. He advanced down the track to slam Keshav Maharaj into the stands. However, in spite of this, the fact of the matter saw Aleem Dar confidently raise his finger to give the skipper out.
Smith went for the review straight away without any doubt. The technology went on to show that the ball was clipping the leg stump by a whisker. Smith then strolled away in anguish and amazement. Perhaps the technology is not just ready yet but is being used.
Twitter blew up following the dismissal with a few also looking at the humorous side of things as well.
