Twitter Reaction: Yuvraj Singh narrowly misses out on a double ton in Ranji
Twitter Reaction: Yuvraj Singh narrowly misses out on a double ton in Ranji: The flamboyant southpaw has hit the purple patch by smashing a stylish 187 runs knock from 233 balls. Punjab gained a first innings lead of 41 runs on the 4th and final day at PCA Stadium in Mohali. In reply to Gujarat’s 467, Punjab were all out for a mammoth 608 in 159.4 overs.
Yuvraj’s knock is a timely reminder to fans and selectors that the Indian discard has a lot of cricket left in him. The 33-year-old Yuvraj hit 14 fours and 7 sixes in his 233-ball knock. This was the left-hander’s 24th first-class hundred. He had resumed the final day on 85. In last year’s Ranji Trophy season, he had scored a hat-trick of centuries.
“I just want to play and enjoy my cricket. If I get an opportunity to come back and play for India, I would look forward to that. But these are the games, which will give me the opportunity to come back so I am trying my best,” Yuvraj had said last week before Punjab’s match against Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium. He had revealed how batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had advised him to enjoy his cricket.
“It’s just that passion for playing the game. I was speaking to Sachin last year and he said that, obviously the most important thing is to play for India but don’t forget to enjoy the game. As young kids, we always played the game to enjoy it. We never knew (then) that we were going to play for India.” he added.
