Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered four humiliating defeats in the first four matches of this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Subsequently, the team, captained by Virat Kohli, found themselves at the bottom of the table and was a recipient of severe criticism. Prior to their fifth game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), there would have been a lot of pressure on them.
The match is currently being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and the supporters would desperately have wanted to make a comeback. However, the Red Army didn’t drop the gun and came out firing on all cylinders. Kohli’s men lost the toss and they were put in to bat first by the visiting Knight Riders. The track turned out to be an absolute nightmare for the bowlers.
De Villiers and Kohli step on the gas
Parthiv Patel and captain Kohli opened the batting and put on a blistering opening stand of 64 runs from 47 deliveries. Nitish Rana trapped Parthiv in front to break the ominous-looking stand. Parthiv ended up scoring 25 runs from 24 balls with the help of three boundaries. Thereafter, it was the turn of Kohli and AB de Villiers to unfold utter mayhem and take the KKR bowlers to the cleaners.
The duo put on an incredible stand of 108 runs from 56 balls to take the sting out of the Knights bowling attack. Kohli went on to score his half-century in a mere 31 balls and came back to form, much to his delight. The 30-year-old ended up notching 84 runs from 49 deliveries with nine boundaries and a couple of sixes. The 35-year-old De Villiers looked at his bludgeoning best as well.
The former South African cricketer racked up his half-century in 28 balls. The swashbuckling batsman scored 63 runs from 32 balls with the help of five fours and four over-boundary. It was Sunil Narine, who dismissed the batter in the penultimate over, caught by Shubman Gill. Marcus Stoinis chipped in with a 13-ball 28 to take the Royal Challengers to a mammoth score of 205 for three in 20 overs.

Kohli has struggled against the wrong-un, does not mean you bowl one every ball to him. Young leggies, learn to set up the batsman. #RCBvKKR #cricket
