Twitter Reactions: Andre Fletcher aces the 122-run chase for the Pakhtoons
McCullum's swashbuckling knock went in vain in the end.
The sixth match of the ongoing T10 League saw one of the best run-chases of the tournament so far. The Pakhtoons gunned down the total of 122 runs against the Rajputs with utter ease thanks to a blistering partnership between Shafiqullah Shafaq and Andre Fletcher who dealt with only maximums during their stay in the middle. None of the Rajputs bowlers were spared by them as they cantered to their first victory.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, the Rajputs got off to the worst possible start as the hero of the last game, Mohammad Shahzad was dismissed was sent back in the very first over by Sohail Khan for just six runs. However, the Kiwi cricketer Brendon McCullum found his groove today as he ripped apart the bowling attack. He blasted his way to a 29-ball 58 with three fours and six massive blows over the boundary to leave the opposition in a state of shock.
Rilee Rossouw and Laurie Evans also played their part by hitting sixes at will. While the former slammed 25 off seven balls, Evans struggled a little at the start to recover later and end with 27 off 19 balls. The Rajputs posted a total of 121 runs for the loss of three wickets in the 10 overs as it looked enough at the halfway stage.
Fletcher rips apart the Rajputs
T10 League is all about surprises. Andre Fletcher and Cameron Delport attacked the opposition from the word go in the chase to get off to a great start. But the latter was sent back for 22 by Tymal Mills in the fourth over after which the run-scoring came down drastically.
Shafaq struggled miserably to score only three runs off his first three balls. However, he shifted gears then with Fletcher also in the mood and literally gave no chance to the Rajputs. None of the bowlers were spared by Fletcher especially as he took a special liking to Samit Patel who bowled the first and last over of the innings.
Eventually, the score was chased down comfortably with two balls remaining and Fletcher remained unbeaten on 68 off just 27 balls with six fours and five maximums which almost landed in the Caribbean islands. This Pakhtoons victory has nicely set up the group A as all the four teams have won a game each now.
