The ultimate contest of the U19 Asia Cup saw the light of the day between Sri Lanka U19 and India U19 in Dubai International Stadium on 31st December. The Indian top-order made the way for them to grab the title by nine wickets in merely 21.3 overs. Winning the toss, Lanka chose to show up with willows first and posted an average total of 106 runs on the board. The Dunith Wellalage-led side posted the total after losing their nine wickets in 38 overs where Yasiru Rodrigo scored the highest runs for the team.
Rodrigo walked towards the end of the Lankan innings and contributed with 19 runs while utilizing 26 balls in his innings. The openers of the side came and went back without opening arms much and a lot was in plate for the middle order. Even the middle order failed to fire and Sadisha Rajapaksa and Raveen de Silva added 14 and 15 runs respectively from their ends.

Though all the U19 Indian bowlers made a mark in the crucial contest, Vicky Ostwal’s spell stood out as he picked three wickets while conceding just 11 runs in eight overs. Kaushal Tambe also picked two wickets to pace up India’s quest to bag the title.

Problem with toxic Indian cricket fans is when people give credit to Dhoni for 2011 worldcup then it is wrong but giving credit to Rohit for U19 Asia cup win is fine.

Congrats to Indian U19 Team. Many people didn't give them a chance to win the Asia Cup, but they defeated both the favourites consecutively to win the cup with 17 overs remaining. @BCCI #IndU19vsSLU19 pic.twitter.com/wPh9c6gb6X

Angkrish Raghuvanshi steals the show with a stunning half-century
When India U19 walked up to bat, the target was reduced to 102 runs (DLS method) in a rain-marred contest and they made the target look like a children’s play. Opener Harnoor Singh returned for five runs in a quick span but his partner Angkrish Raghuvanshi started shouldering responsibilities from the very beginning.
He got great support from Shaik Rasheed and both of them pushed India over the victory line in an all-important clash. While Raghuvanshi stole the show with his stunning half-century (56 off 67), Rasheed’s contribution (31 off 49) remained instrumental in pulling off the chase game for India U19. Rodrigo got the sole wicket from Sri Lanka U19’s bowling artillery.
