The crowd at the Centurion witnessed yet another amazing performance by the visitors. India managed to register a spectacular victory in a game they dominated thoroughly and with that, won the series 5-1. They also sealed their spot as the No.1 ranked One-Day International team.
Put in to bat first, the South Africans tried to get rid of the ghosts. However, both the openers failed to provide them a decent start. Shardul Thakur who was brought in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar accounted for the early wickets of Hashim Amla and skipper Aiden Markram.
AB de Villiers got a start but failed to convert it into anything special as he attempted a false shot against Yuzvendra Chahal only to be cleaned up. Khaya Zondo went on to score his half-century. However, the other batsmen failed to step up either and as a result, it was another dismal display by the home team. They were reduced from 105/2 to 151/7 as wickets kept falling like a pack of cards.
Andile Phehlukwayo and Morne Morkel tried to put up a fight but South Africa could only manage 204. They were bundled in 47 overs as the Indian bowlers had another great day on the field. Shardul was the pick with four wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal got a couple of wickets each.
As for India, Rohit Sharma got out early. Shikhar Dhawan looked good for a while but was dismissed as a result of a brilliant catch by Zondo. However, it was one of those several days that belonged to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He continued to display his tremendous form in the South African tour.
He scored his 35th ton in ODIs. And remained unbeaten with 129 runs from 96 deliveries – 19 boundaries and a couple of sixes. Ajinkya Rahane stayed not out on as India won the game by 8 wickets with more than 17 overs to spare.
Twitter was rejuvenated after the scintillating ton by Kohli as he was praised for his sensational consistency. Rohit Sharma, as usual, gave content to the trolls by getting out early.

All there is for @imVkohli to do is to get runs in England in Test to confirm what so many now know that he is the greatest all round player in all forms #fact

Many congratulations to the Indian team on an incredible 5-1 series win. Virat Kohli was simply outstanding but the bowlers, especially Chahal and Kuldeep set it up for India with 33 wickets between them. #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/AYtCtUoLhE

Kohli and Dhawan have done nothing but toy with the SA attack this entire tour. Manipulated them around, no problems raised.
Who knew this SA series would turn out to be such a bore?! #SAvIND

You have excuse for South Africa's poor batting. Players injured or whatever.
