In what was a stupendous batting performance by Australia, they finally managed to cross the 300-run mark for the first time in the series. With a total of 334/5 on the board, this game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium now promises to be a thrilling contest between the two sides.
Earlier in the day, it was skipper Steve Smith who won the toss as Australia elected to bat first. The visitors made two changes as they had Matthew Wade and Adam Zampa back into the playing XI. India on the other hand, rested the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Axar Patel were brought in.
Australia had a magnificent start to their innings. David Warner and Aaron Finch put up a staggering partnership of 231 runs for the first wicket. The Indian bowlers, on the other hand, failed to make a difference as both the batsmen literally toyed with them. While David Warner played a stupendous inning of 124 runs from just 119 balls, Aaron Finch missed out on a second consecutive century as he got out on 94.
There was a little bit a panic in the middle as Warner’s wicket was followed by quick dismissals of Finch and captain Steve Smith as the Australians were reduced to 236/3. However, Peter Handscomb’s timely knock of 43(30) in the end took Australia post the 300 run mark. Marcus Stoinis also played a good cameo in the end. As for the Indian bowlers, Umesh Yadav got four wickets but was a bit expensive. Kedhar Jadhav also managed to get a wicket. The spinner, as well as the likes of Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya, went wicketless.
Twitter kept everyone entertained throughout the innings. Right from lauding Warner to trolling Umesh Yadav, right from lauding Finch to trolling Axar Patel.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that emerged during the course of the innings:

Unlike other games, having specialist batsmen helped stall the collapse.

Handscomb has done well. Should be a regular in side.

Australia have got the strong finish they wanted. Having said that, they looked good for 360 at one point. 334 not easy but gettable.
