Australia continued to impress in the ODI format of the game. In a matter of three weeks, they managed to humble two of the strongest teams from Asia. The visitors won the third ODI against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi by a massive 80-run margin and thus sealed the series. These performances come as quite a relief to the country as they’ve struggled a lot in recent past.
Even though many were skeptical about their performance at the World Cup 2019, now they’d believe the team will go the distance. Pakistan’s performance with the bat in this series has raised quite a few questions. Even though the pitch at Abu Dhabi wasn’t easy to bat on, the team failed to apply itself properly. Most of the batsmen got off to good starts but failed to get going.
Aaron Finch misses out on getting to his third consecutive century
For the first time in this series, Australia batted first. Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to put the opposition into the field. Usman Khawaja, who has been in good form, registered a duck in this match as Usman Shinwari got the better of him right in the first over. Aaron Finch, though, played a gem of a knock yet again.
The Australian skipper scored 90 runs but was unfortunate to have missed out on getting to his third consecutive ton. Peter Handscomb looked good with a 43-ball 47. But the real game-changing knock came from the willow of Glenn Maxwell. He raced his way to a 55-ball 71 and got his team to a very good position on a difficult track. Australia finished with 266/6 in 50 overs which was a very challenging total.
Pakistan never seemed to be in contention to win the match
While trying to ascend this huge mountain during the chase, Pakistan lost three of its batsmen quite early. Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, and Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion for single-digit scores. This resulted in the middle-order being subjected to a lot of pressure and they had to consolidate. However, the batsmen took a lot of time to do the same as the required run rate kept creeping up.
Imam-ul-Haq’s 46 which came off 72 balls didn’t help the cause either. Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, and Imad Wasim – all got off to good starts. But none of them dug in and capitalised on the starts. Adam Zampa picked a four-wicket haul while Pat Cummins accounted for three wickets as Pakistan were bundled out for 186 runs in 44.4 overs. Twitterati erupted after the Aussies won the match and congratulated the team. At the same time, they also lashed out at Pakistan for the poor batting display.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:

Aaron Finch "If we had lost today, it would have been my fault for batting so slowly"
A message in there for some of the Pakistani batsmen#PAKvAUS

Adam Zampa's 4-43 is best bowling figures for an Australian leg-spinner in ODIs in 19 years (since Stuart MacGill's 4-19 vs Pak in Sydney in 2000). #PakvAus

It is first time in 15 years that Australia have won 6 consecutive ODIs in Asia. They won three in a row in India and now have won three vs Pak in UAE. #PakvAus

Another fine innings from AUS ODI skipper Aaron Finch v PAK (90) … return to form for Glenn Maxwell (71 off 59) … career-best 4-43 from Adam Zampa … 3-24 for Pat Cummins to claim another ODI series … the World Cup warm-up continues to impress #PAKvAUS 🏏

We can't chase target!
We can't defend target!
We can't bat!
We can't bowl!
We just can't field!
Shame that we are being called "favourites" for WC19. Pathetic performance..

Maxwell stood up when Warner and Steve Smith were banned. He now is a strong contender to be one of the finest players in the World Cup in peak form. Cryptic #PAKvAUS https://t.co/hc9BHW7ms6

Azhar Mahmood "There are still 2 bowling spots which are undecided. The options are Shinwari, Amir, Junaid, Abbas or Hasnain. We need to pick two of these guys so this is an opportunity for them to show their talent and make a spot for themselves in the World Cup squad" #PAKvAUS

The last time Pakistan won an ODI series vs Australia, Wasim Akram was an active cricketer, Shane Warne was still playing ODIs, Kohli was not even an U19 cricketer, T20s didn't exist, Ronaldo had not made Manchester United debut, iPhone was not invented, Facebook was not founded.

TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE BY #TeamPakistan
They seems to me not playing for team but for the race of #CWC19 squad.
Poor bit of captaincy by #ShoaibMalik
Worst Selection so far by #Inzi
If you selected those new boys so why they are on the bench?
Congrats…. @CricketAus#PAKvAUS pic.twitter.com/Est5qCJCwu— #PAKvAUS #PakistanDay #PakistanZindabad |عفان🇵🇰| (@9afan) March 28, 2019
