Twitter Reactions: Australia set a target of 243 after another batting collapse
Twitterati lauded Finch and Warner while trolling their dismissals, also praised the Indian bowlers and trolled the Australian batsmen.
The last game of the ODI series, the Nagpur crowd witnessed an exciting contest between the Indian bowling and the Australian batting. The Australians ended up posting a total of 242/9 despite a brilliant start as the slow bowlers strangled the free-flowing batters and in the death the duo of Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar didn’t allow them anything to play with.
Earlier in the day, it was skipper Steve Smith who won the toss as Australia elected to bat first again. The Australians had all-rounder James Faulkner coming in for pacer Kane Richardson. As for the Indians, they made three changes as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav were brought in place of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
David Warner and Aaron Finch again provided a good start to the Australian innings. While Finch got out before he could capitalise on his good start, Warner went on to score his half century. However, he got out soon after reaching the milestone. Skipper Smith’s cheap dismissal meant the job of taking the Australian total to something big was up to the struggling middle order.
Peter Handscomb who walked in at No.4 continued to disappoint. On the other hand, Travis Head tried to rescue Australia alongside Marcus Stoinis. They were both dismissed in their 40s. In the end, Matthew Wade and James Faulkner tried to provide a late charge. However, some brilliant death bowling by Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar restricted them from going big in the death. In the end, Australia scored 242/9 in their quota of 50 overs.
Axar Patel who was out of action in the first few games due to an injury was really impressive. He had stupendous bowling figures of 3/38. Bumrah also got a couple of wickets. Hardik Pandya got the wicket of Finch in the only two overs he bowled. Kedhar Jadhav was splendid again and also got the wicket of Smith.
Twitter kept everyone entertained with scintillating tweets from the game. Right from lauding Finch and Warner to trolling their dismissals, from lauding Indian bowlers to trolling the Australian batsmen, here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions during the course of the game.
