The Bangladesh v Pakistan Asia Cup T20 tie today was a must win for both the teams. The home team first bowled really well to restrict Pakistan to an under par total. 129 was all they managed in their share of overs. Pakistan had the fire in their bowling but, like in the previous game the ball didn’t do much after the first 6 overs and once again it looked like they were in with just one bowlers Mohammad Amir.
Bangladesh batted well, with more responsibility and sense to keep pace with the chase while they lost a few wickets. Soumya Sarkar batted excellently in his knock of 48. The 22-run knock from Mahmudullah who also hit the winning shot was a treat as he beat pressure to get his team home. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza also hit a couple of boundaries. It was tight until the penultimate over from Mohammad Sami where he bowled a couple of no balls and that absolutely put Pakistan out of the match.
The winning skipper was delighted and so was the crowd. Mortaza at the post match presentation said: “It’s a big win for us. Almost like a semi-final. Told my boys to grab it. We will face many matches like this, so don’t take any pressure. Good sign that Sarkar has come back in form. We coped with pressure nicely and obviously it’s a big win for us. Just have to enjoy each other’s company ahead of the final. Hopefully we’ll do that and give our best. Always a pleasure to play in front of home crowds. They’ve been supporting us all along and hopefully they’ll keep doing so.”
Pakistan skipper had more questions and very few answers Afridi while talking to Ramiz Raja after the match said: “Want to congratulate both Bangladesh and India for qualifying. We keep repeating mistakes again and again which you can’t do. Bowlers did a good job but we were 20 runs light. Need to do something very special in World T20 otherwise we don’t deserve to win it. Youngsters have been kept giving chances, and we will continue to do so. What else can we do? We have to win our final game in this tournament which will be crucial for our morale.”
Here is how Twitter reacted to Bangladesh’s superb win:
This Pakistan team would end runners-up in the Pakistan Cup.

Can't blame the bowlers. To nearly defend that total was a fantastic effort from them ? #Cricket #BanvPak

Time changes, Venue changes, Tournament changes, Opponent Changes…
But performance of Pakistan's Batting remains the same ?#BANvPAK— Mannuu (@PureTharki) March 2, 2016
It would be insane to make Mohammad Sami the scapegoat for this. The top-order batting was awful even against UAE. #BANvPAK

Hahaha.
Two no-balls cost poor Pakistan the match.
Not the first time that crossing a line has cost them!#BANvPAK— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) March 2, 2016
Afridi the bowler must bowl a match-winning spell for his captain…it's going a little outta hand. #BANvPAK #AsiaCupT20

Pak's top order (1-3) averages just 16.02 in T20Is in last 1 yr. Of all cricket playing nations, only PNG & Nepal have worse avgs. #BANvPAK
