Twitter Reaction: Ben Stokes falls to technology

Ben Stokes’s dismissal late in the afternoon of the 2nd test at Old Trafford triggered a reaction on Twitter. The all-rounder was judged out by the third umpire through DRS.
With over 500 runs on the board, they have a clear upper hand over the visitors. The day began on a good not for the team as their most important batsman reached the 150 runs shortly after coming to the crease. Chris Woakes and Root then combined and put 97 runs for the 5th wicket. Woakes contributed 58 in the partnership.
However, Pakistan bowlers after getting drubbed by the duo finally managed to separate them after Yasir snapped Woakes. The breakthrough had finally come for the hosts but the advantage remained with England as Root then found the support of Ben Stokes.
Stokes faced no problems and batted smoothly. Everything was fine and until a nippy 140 KPH delivery from left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz from around the wicket beat Ben Stokes and went straight in the hands of wicket-keeper Sarfraz khan in the 131st over. Sarfraz felt Stokes had gloved the ball and raised an avid appeal. However, Kumar Dharmasena seemed to be unsatisfied and turned down the appeal forcing Misbah to go for the DRS.
Unfortunately, the Hot Spot and Snicko also couldn’t clearly show the signs of an edge with one angle suggesting a white mark been already present before the ball passed the gloves. After a lot of different angles and discussion the third umpire, Joel Wilson eventually was convinced and gave the batsmen out. Many felt that it was a wrong decision and showed their frustration on the Twitter.
The only explanation: I reckon when he was young, Ben Stokes killed a third umpire, just to watch him die. And they’ve never forgotten.

To complete the circle, Joel Wilson was also the man who gave Ben Stokes out Obstructing the Field against Australia last year
