An excellent display of disciplined bowling by the Indians ensured that the visitors end their inning on 230/9. Indian skipper Virat Kohli lost the toss but two wickets from Bhuvneshwar Kumar early on helped India put a grip on the Kiwi batters. Kumar finished with figures of 3/45 and scalped the wickets of both the openers- Martin Guptill and Colin Munro.

Captain of the New Zealand side Kane Williamson once again failed to trouble the scorers and went back trapped in front by Jasprit Bumrah for mere three runs. The heroes from the last game Ross Taylor and Tom Latham started the repairing act but failed to produce a Mumbai like punch.

Indian bowler’s impressive outing

Henry Nicholls top-scored for the visitors with a gritty 42 while another all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme scored 41. Both failed to reach their respective fifties but did good enough to take their side to a respectable position, after being reduced to 58/4 at one stage. Mitchell Santner also joined the building section with a vital 29 while Tim Southee remained unbeaten on 25 off 22 balls.

The Indians never let the Blackcaps take a dominating stand and they fell to the tricks of the hosts. Bumrah finished with 2/38 and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped two wickets for 36 runs in his 8 overs. Hardik Pandya was a bit expensive as he went for over five runs an over but he picked up the prized wicket of Taylor and reduced the damage. He bowled just four overs, and wasn’t seen bowling at the death. Spinner Axar Patel failed to make an impact and went for 54 runs in his 10 overs. He picked up the wicket of the century-maker from the last game Tom Latham, but that wasn’t enough to cover his figures.

India will look to win this game and level the series, as it is a must-win game for the hosts, while on the other hand, the Kiwis will be willing to flush out India’s hopes and seal the series right here. Let’s check out how Twitter reacted to India’s impressive show with the ball.
