Twitter Reactions: Brandon King’s masterclass seals the series for West Indies
West Indies sealed the ODI series 2-0 against the Netherlands.
Having won the first ODI match of the series against the Netherlands easily by seven wickets, West Indies were looking to wrap up the series in the 2nd ODI. Earlier today (02 June 2022), West Indies faced the Netherlands for the second One Day Internationals in Amstelveen where guests came out victorious again by five wickets with 4.3 overs to spare.
The Dutch captain, Pieter Seelar won the toss and elected to bat first. Both openers started steadily as their first wicket fell in the 21st over for a score of 101. But after that, they lost wickets at a regular interval, and finally, they managed to put a below-par score of 214 in 48.3 overs. The wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards was the highest scorer with his 68 runs innings off 89 balls including just one boundary where he scored at a strike rate of 76.4.
On the other side, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein once again was the star of the show for picking up four wickets by conceding only 39 runs. His economic spell did not let the Dutch batter build a partnership during that middle-over phase and that shifted the momentum towards them.
Bradon King’s unbeaten knock of 91 runs sealed the match for West Indies
While chasing this target, West Indies did not have a great start as they were struggling at one stage by losing five wickets for 99 runs only. Netherland’s Bas de Leede was in top form with the ball as he picked two crucial wickets for 46 runs in eight overs. However, Brandon King managed to put up a stable partnership with Keacy Carty and that unbeaten partnership of 118 runs steered them home safely in 45.3 overs only.
