Ben Duckett shines with the bat as Brisbane Heat record an important victory in the 2021-22 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). It was indeed a convincing win as Adelaide Strikers couldn’t do much against the Jimmy Peirson-led team. Notably, both teams stepped into this fixture, having won just one of their first four games. Hence, a lot was on stakes in this game.

While the Strikers did well in some junctures of the contest, they eventually were no match for the Brisbane-based team. As the top three were back in the hut early, the southpaw played sensible cricket and stabilized the innings. He, however, shifted gears as the proceedings advanced to the death overs. He scored runs all over the park and pushed Adelaide on the backfoot. He eventually fell prey to leg-spinner Rashid Khan but not before scoring 78 off 47 balls.

The southpaw was well supported by Sam Heazlett, who scored a 30-ball 49. As a result, the Brisbane-based team posted 208/7 while batting first. In reply, the Strikers lost wickets at regular intervals and never really looked in the hunt. Jonathan Wells tried to put up a fight and slammed a gutsy half-century.

However, his efforts could only narrow down the margin of defeat as the Strikers were restricted to 169/8, losing the contest by 39 runs. Matthew Kuhnemann and Mark Steketee made the ball talk for Brisbane and took two wickets apiece.
