Big-hitting of the highest class was on display when the Vancouver Knights played the Winnipeg Hawks in the Global T20 Canada. Seldom we see a 200+ score chased down so easily. But this game was different. It only took 15.2 overs to gun down a total of 208 courtesy some unbelievable batting from the likes of Chris Lynn and JP Duminy. It was a delight to watch them in action while the Vancouver Knights lost their first game of the tournament.
Chris Gayle provided his team with a lightning start after they were asked to bat first. The ‘Universe Boss’ scored 45 off 27 balls before he perished while Chadwick Walton scored 30 off 20. Rassie van der Dussen also made an important contribution as he mustered 39 runs in only 20 balls. Shoaib Malik, though, struggled slightly and scored only 28 off 25 in this high-scoring game. Rizwan Cheema and Andile Phehlukwayo, with some big hitting towards the end, pushed the total to 208/5 at the end of 20 overs.
Chris Lynn and JP Duminy played as if it was a beach ball
Right off the second ball of the innings, the Winnipeg Hawks lost the wicket of Shaiman Anwar. Soon, in the second over, Umar Akmal also found his way back to the pavilion and thus the team was reduced to 15/2. However, Chris Lynn and JP Duminy kept going and never let the intensity down at any stage. They were taking the bowlers for the cleaners and played some exceptional cricket.
The Australian lost his wicket after scoring 74 runs from only 34 balls to Andile Phehlukwayo. But, by then, he created enough damage and even hit 7 sixes. DJ Bravo, who walked in next, took off exactly from where Lynn left it. JP Duminy, at the other end, smashed five sixes and seven fours. At the end of the chase, he remained unbeaten on 77 from 38 deliveries.
Bravo, on the other hand, smashed four sixes and even finished the game with a six. He was unbeaten on 36 from 17 deliveries and thoroughly entertained the crowd. It was a treat to watch all these three batsmen in action and Twitterati was quite excited after watching their heroics.
Here is how Twitterati reacted to this scintillating batting:
Chris Lynn continuing what he is known for the best, 74 from 34 with 4 fours and 7 sixes. #GT20Canada

Vancouver’s strategy of repeated free hits to Duminy and Lynn is questionable at best. #GT20Canada
