The ongoing Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been one full of disappointments for the hosts. The same disappointment continued in the second innings after the side failed to post a big total on the scoreboard for Bangladesh to chase down.

Pakistan were bowled out for 274 runs in the first innings, which was nearly reached by Bangladesh as they managed 262 in reply after being 26/5 at one stage. Having taken a small lead of 12 runs, Pakistan would have hoped to post a big total onto the board and give a reasonable target for Bangladesh to chase.

However, they failed to impress in the second innings. Openers Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub scoring three and 20 runs, respectively while skipper Shan Masood was dismissed for 28 off 34. Bangladesh continued to put pressure with their excellent bowling as Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel were also dismissed cheaply. Pakistan’s lower middle order aimed to stabilise the innings with Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha scoring 43 and 47* runs, respectively.

Although, the hosts were eventually bundled out for just 172, giving Bangladesh a 185-run target to clinch the series 2-0. Hasan Mahmud was the highest wicket-taker in the second innings with five wickets to his name while Nahid Rana scalped four.

It is worth noting that Pakistan lost the first Test of the series by 10 wickets, and losing the second Test would mean losing the series, which is something that the hosts cannot afford. After the side’s collapse in the second innings, several fans took to X and reacted to the second innings.
