Sri Lanka levelled the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh with a three-wicket victory in the second ODI on Friday, March 15 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. After being put in to bat first, Bangladesh posted a good score of 286/7 in their allotted 50 overs with Towhid Hridoy top scoring with 96* (102). In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target in 47.1 overs as Pathum Nissanka (114 off 113) and Charith Asalanka (91 off 93) starring with the bat.
Sri Lanka got their chase off to a miserable start losing their opener Avishka Fernando (0 off 1) on the second ball of the innings. Kusal Mendis (16 off 13) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (1 off 4) also departed cheaply leaving their team on 43/3. However, Pathum Nissanka (114 off 113) and Charith Asalanka (91 off 93) bailed their team out of trouble with a massive 185-run partnership off 183 balls.

The duo was dismissed within a space of eight deliveries falling prey to Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed respectively. Following their dismissals, Dunith Wellalage (15* off 26) and Wanindu Hasaranga (25 off 16) took Sri Lanka over the line. Shoriful Islam (2/49) and Taskin Ahmed (2/49) picked two wickets each for Bangladesh.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were also rocked by the early dismissal of their opener Litton Das (0 off 3) in the first over itself. However, the innings was stabilized by Najmul Hossain Shanto (40 off 39) and Soumya Sarkar (68 off 66) with their 75-run stand for the second wicket.

Following their dismissals, Towhid Hridoy held one end and stitched crucial partnerships with Mushfiqur Rahim (25 off 28), Tanzim Hasan Sakib (18 off 33) and Taskin Ahmed (18* off 10). He remained unbeaten on 96* (102) as Bangladesh finished their innings on 286/7. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka with figures of 4/45 in ten overs.
