Bangladesh made a terrific comeback in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka as they beat them by eight wickets in the second game on Wednesday, March 6 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. After being put in to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 165/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target in 18.1 overs with a brilliant half-century from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

The hosts got off to a good start in their chase with openers Litton Das (36 off 24) and Soumya Sarkar (26 off 22) adding 68 runs for the first wicket off 41 balls. Their stand was broken by Matheesha Pathirana (2/28) who first dismissed Sarka for 26 (22) in the seventh over and later got rid of Das (36 off 24) in the ninth over.

The Bangladesh skipper remained unbeaten on 53 off 38 balls while Hridoy remained unbeaten on 32* (25).

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka got off to a miserable start losing opener Avishka Fernando (0 off 7) in the second over itself. After the early blow, Kusal Mendis (36 off 22) and Kamindu Mendis (37 off 27) stabilized the innings with their 66-run stand off 42 balls.
