Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag's exceptional career was shaped by his unending quest to push the boundaries. Regardless of whether it was the opening ball of the ICC World Cup final or while batting just one run short of a triple hundred, he was fearless in his technique and always wanted to get runs quickly. Sehwag wasn't known for his resilience in any way.

In the course of his illustrious career, the Delhi hitter amassed runs for enjoyment. In addition to his cricketing prowess, Sehwag is renowned for his sarcastic nature and a good sense of humour. As Virender Sehwag celebrates his 44th birthday, he is showered with compliments from cricket players and fans.

The one wish that stands out from the others is of his close pal Sachin Tendulkar, who shared a funny caption to a nostalgic photo.  It can be said that the former Indian opening combo is also the best opening partnership in cricket history. It was clear from the posts that Tendulkar and Sehwag had a very unique friendship on and off the field.

The only cricketer from India to produce two triple hundreds in tests, Virender Sehwag also became only the second batter in ODI history, back in December 2011, to reach a double century, after Sachin Tendulkar. In his international career, over the course of 14 years, Sehwag has amassed 17253 runs across all three formats of the game.

Sehwag- The record holder!

Only Sehwag has amassed 7,500+ runs in both Test and ODI cricket while batting in the opening slot. Together with Sir Don Bradman, he has the joint-most number of 290+ Test scores- three. Considering all of his incredible achievements, the vision of him hitting the first ball of the innings to the boundary will always be remembered as the finest.

Sehwag’s international career began as a middle-order batter. He was, nonetheless, upgraded to the position of the opener by former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly. In all formats, his daring and unapologetically aggressive approach worked wonders for India. It's noteworthy that he scored 14 of his 15 ODI hundreds while opening the batting lineup.
