England put up a good show against Australia in the first game of the ongoing three-match T20I series to take an early 1-0 lead. Despite being in a pressure situation England bowlers put up a good display of bowling during the death overs and helped their side emerge victorious by eight runs.
Meanwhile, Matthew Wade action's on the ground left everyone baffled as he tried to prevent England pacer Mark Wood to complete what could have been a caught and bowled opportunity. However, skipper Jos Buttler decided not to appeal.
Talking about the incident, the match was hanging in fine balance (Australia needed 39 runs off 23 balls) with Wood bowling to Wade. The express pacer decided to go for the short ball and Wade could only manage to top edge it. As the ball ballooned in the air, Wood tried to run towards the ball to complete a caught and bowled.

But Wade tried to block the bowler from getting to the ball. The senior Australian batter also stretched out his left arm and prevented Wood from taking the catch as the ball fell to the ground. England fielders were not happy with Wade's action, but when asked, Buttler decided not to continue the appeal.
"I wasn't sure what happened. They asked if I wanted to appeal, and I thought, 'We're here for a long time in Australia. I would be a risky one to go for so early in the trip," Buttler said during the post-match presentation.

Despite so much drama, the Three Lions went on to win the contest and will now travel to Canberra to play the remaining two T20I matches. England's skipper, Buttler, who looked in ominous touch in the first encounter will want to continue his good form in the remaining two matches.

What Wade did there was clear obstruction and prevented wood from taking the catch. I don't understand the fielding team having to take the moral high ground and not appealing when the batter shouldn't be doing such stuff in the first place. pic.twitter.com/4l3vberUF8
