Ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra yet again made the nation proud, as he scripted history at the World Athletics Championships by becoming the first Indian to clinch a gold medal at the event on Sunday, August 27.

Competing against some of the best athletes from around the globe, Neeraj launched a missile during his second attempt. With a winning throw of 88.17 meters, Neeraj conquered his peak and upgraded his silver medal from last year’s event to a glittering gold in the men's javelin throw final in Budapest, Hungary.

For the unversed, Neeraj’s compatriots - Kishore Jena and DP Manu too put impressive performances at the event, however, failed to make it to the podium as they stood fifth and sixth, respectively. The final became an edge-of-a-seat thriller as Neeraj was up against Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem.

While Arshad came up with 87.82 meters, his season’s best in his third attempt, Neeraj showed nerves of steel to attain glory and clinch the gold. With this, the ace javelin thrower matched Abhinav Bindra’s unique record to hold an Olympic medal and World Championship medal together.

Grabbing the headlines on clinching the gold, numerous cricketers took to their social media handles to extend their wishes for his exceptional feat in Budapest. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the social media posts by the cricketers for Neeraj’s accomplishment-
