Day 3 of the first Test between England and the West Indies ended with England registering a dominant win. In the final game of James Anderson’s remarkable career, England managed to give the veteran a proper farewell. Facing off at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, Day 2 of the clash ended with the West Indies batting in the second innings.

After a subpar performance in the first innings, where the Windies were bundled out for 121 runs, England replied by scoring 371 runs and maintaining a big lead against the visitors. The likes of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Jamie Smith were the stars with the bat for England.

As the West Indies came into bat for the second innings, the side’s openers fell prey to England’s bowling attack once more. Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis scored four and 14 runs, respectively. Kirk McKenzie departed for a duck in nine deliveries. Alick Athanaze scored 22 runs in 47 balls, with Kavem Hodge adding just four runs on the board.

Day 3 of the clash began with the West Indies still trailing by 171 runs. Joshua Da Silva, who ended day 2 unbeaten, departed on a score of nine runs. Alzarri Joseph was sent packing for just eight runs.

With a loss looking imminent for the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie attempted to mend the innings, with an unbeaten knock of 31 runs in 35 deliveries. However, his performance was not enough to drive the game into its final stages.

Through England’s brilliance with the ball, the West Indies were bundled out for just 136 runs. Gus Atkinson was once again the star of the show, taking five wickets in the second innings. James Anderson took three wickets, with Ben Stokes taking two, as England won the game by an innings and 114 runs.
