Steven Smith is one of the best Test batters of this generation who has inspired the fans not only with his game but also his grit and determination. Smith’s passion for the game has certainly made him a role model among the young and budding cricketers. The prolific Australian batter has become a productive hitter across all formats over the past few years. 

 The 34-year-old has excelled mostly in Test cricket, amassing 8792 runs in 96 games. Smith has a staggering average of 59.88 and a total of 30 centuries and 37 fifties to his name. The Australian run machine first gained notoriety as a possible leg-spinner with some batting ability. Smith, however, arguably, was the best Test batter in the world when he was elected Australia's captain.

Though the downside in his career came with the Newlands ball-tampering controversy, which resulted in Smith losing his captaincy and receiving a 12-month suspension that put an end to his professional career for a short span of time. But by smashing 774 runs in the Ashes series in 2019, he sensationally revived his career. Due to his impressive batting performances, Steve Smith has developed a fan base in India as well.

Earlier this year, the run machine even went on to win the Allan Border medal for the fourth time. It is among Australian cricket’s greatest individual honours that any cricketer receives. This achievement is not the first time for the star Australian batter as he has achieved this feat previously, also in the years 2015, 2018, and 2021.
