India beat England by 434 runs on Day 4 of the third Test at Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot on Sunday, February 18. The Rohit Sharma-led side set a massive target of 557 for England after declaring on 430/4 in their second innings. In reply, the visitors capitulated for 122 in the fourth innings as local boy Ravindra Jadeja picked up the 13th five-wicket haul of his career. Tailender Mark Wood was the top scorer of the innings for England with his knock of 33 (15) as other batters failed to cross the 16-run mark. As a result, India registered a clinical win and took a 2-1 lead in the series.

Earlier, India resumed their innings on 196/2 leading by 322 runs as Shubman Gill (65*) and Kuldeep Yadav (3*) extended their partnership to 55 (98). Gill unfortunately missed out on his fourth Test hundred getting run out on 91 while Kuldeep made a valuable contribution of 27 (91). Following their dismissals, Yashasvi Jaiswal (214*) and Sarfaraz Khan (68* off 72) extended India’s lead to 556 with their 172-run stand.

Let’s take a look at highlights from Day 4 of IND vs ENG 3rd Test:

1. Shubman Gill misses out on his fourth Test hundred

The 24-year-old was moving towards his second consecutive hundred of the series in terms of matches but unfortunately, his innings was cut short due to a miscommunication with Kuldeep Yadav. As a result, he had to depart for 91 (151) with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal clobbers James Anderson for three consecutive sixes

Returning to the crease after getting retired hurt on Day 3, Jaiswal continued from where he left off and completed his 150. He took on the legendary seamer James Anderson in the 85th over of the innings and smacked him for three consecutive sixes to three different parts of the ground.

3. Sarfaraz scores second consecutive fifty on debut

The 26-year-old continued his dream debut as he registered his second consecutive half-century of the match. He played a brilliant knock of 68* off 72 with the help of six fours and three sixes after scoring 62 (66) in the first innings.

4. Ravindra Jadeja picks 13th five-wicket haul of his career

After scoring a century in the first innings, Jadeja stamped his authority with the ball in the second innings picking 5/41 in 12.4 overs to bundle out England for 122. Jadeja got the scalps of Ollie Pope (3), Joe Root (7), Jonny Bairstow (4), Ben Foakes (16) and Mark Wood (33).
