Delhi Capitals beat Gujarat Titans by three runs in Match 40 of IPL 2024.
Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a thrilling four-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Wednesday, April 24 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. After being put in to bat first, Delhi posted a massive score of 224/4 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of half-centuries from Axar Patel (66 off 43) and Rishabh Pant.
In reply, Gujarat could only manage to score 221/8 in reply with Sai Sudharsan (65 off 39) and David Miller (55 off 23) scoring half-centuries. Following their victory, Delhi climbed to the sixth spot on the points table with four wins from nine matches having eight points to their name. On the other hand, Gujarat slipped to the seventh position having eight points as well to their name after nine matches.

1. Rishabh Pant plays a breathtaking knock
The Delhi Capitals captain continued his marvellous form in the ongoing season as he played a breathtaking innings of 88* (43) with the help of five fours and eight sixes. He got involved in a crucial stand of 113 off 68 balls with Axar Patel and later added 67* (18) with Tristan Stubbs to propel Delhi’s score to 224/4 in 20 overs.
2. Sandeep Warrier shines with the ball for GT
The right-arm seamer was the pick of the bowlers for his side as he reduced DC to 44/3 in his opening spell. Warrier got the prized scalps of Prithvi Shaw (11 off 7), Jake Fraser-McGurk (23 off 14) and Shai Hope (5 off 6) and registered figures of 3/15 in three overs in a high-scoring game.

3. Rashid Khan fails to take GT over the line
With 19 runs needed off the last over to win the game, not many gave Gujarat a chance to win the fixture after Sai Kishore got dismissed in the 19th over. However, all-rounder Rashid Khan kept his team’s hopes alive by smashing successive boundaries at the start of the over and later clobbered a six on the penultimate delivery to leave five required off the last ball. However, he failed to deposit the last ball into the stand which resulted in a four-run loss for his side.
