Kolkata Knight Riders beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets to register their fourth win of the season.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bounced back to winning ways in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) with an eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 28 on Sunday, April 14 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After being put in to bat first, LSG batters were dominated by the KKR bowling attack and could only post a score of 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat for Lucknow while Mitchell Starc (3/28) was the pick of the bowlers for Kolkata.
In reply, KKR chased down the modest target without breaking a sweat as Philip Salt and captain Shreyas Iyer (38 off 38) saw their team home in just 15.4 overs with their massive partnership. Following their win, Kolkata maintained second spot on the points table with four wins from five matches while LSG slipped to fifth position with six points from six games.

1. Ramandeep Singh and Philip Salt take blinders in the field
The KKR fielding was on point throughout the innings as their fielders took some phenomenal catches. The first brilliant catch of the day was taken by Ramandeep Singh who executed a full-length dive at point to dismiss Deepak Hooda. The second one was taken by Philip Salt who managed to catch a deflection from Marcus Stoinis’ bat which hit his pads and hung in the air for a while which Salt managed to grab in time.
2. Nicholas Pooran rescues Lucknow’s sinking ship
The West Indies batter walked in to bat with Lucknow on 95/4 after 11.4 overs and immediately began the repair job. The southpaw played a brilliant knock of 45 off 32 balls to help LSG reach a decent total of 161/7 after 20 overs.

3. Philip Salt blows away Lucknow’s bowling
The KKR opener came out all guns blazing in the chase and got his side off to a blistering start. After losing his opening partner Sunil Narine in the second over itself, Salt kept the run rate in check as he hammered Lucknow’s bowlers all around the ground. The 27-year-old registered his second half-century of the season and played a match-winning innings of 89* (47) with the help of 14 fours and three sixes and guided his team home.
