Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bounced back to winning ways in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) as they beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 36 on Sunday, April 21 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After being put in to bat first, KKR posted a humongous score of 222/6 in their allotted 20 overs with captain Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with 50 (36).

In reply, RCB came mighty close to chasing down the target courtesy of half-centuries from Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar but agonizingly fell one run short of their target finishing their innings on 222/6 in their 20 overs. Following their win, KKR climbed to the second spot on the points table with five wins from seven matches having ten points to their name. On the other hand, RCB maintained their last spot on the points table with just one win from eight games having two points to their name.

1. Philip Salt gets KKR off to a blistering start

The English opener once again got his team off to a fiery start as he made full use of the powerplay by taking on the bowlers. Salt scored a breathtaking 48 off just 14 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes as he helped KKR surpass the 50-run mark in just four overs.

2. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar bring RCB in the driver’s seat with their century partnership

After losing their openers Virat Kohli (18 off 7) and Faf du Plessis (7 off 7) with just 35 runs on the board. Jacks and Patidar took matters into their own hands and got involved in a massive 102-run stand off 48 balls for the third wicket as they brought the required run rate under 100. Jacks scored 55 off 32 while Patidar played a breathtaking knock of 52 off 23 balls.

3. Andre Russell brings KKR back in the game with twin strikes

After failing to fire with the bat, Russell made sure to make his presence felt with the ball as he brought his team back in the game with couple of strikes in the 12th over. Russel got rid of both set batters Jacks and Patidar in the same over getting both batters caught out. He further got the all-important wicket of Dinesh Karthik (25 off 18) in the penultimate over who was threatening to take the game away from KKR.
