Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel both scored fifties and helped Rajasthan Royals (RR) secure a seven-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 44 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The duo put up an unbeaten 121-run partnership which is the highest for RR for the fourth wicket in IPL. Chasing a target of 197, RR successfully reached home in the penultimate over.
Earlier, LSG captain KL Rahul scored a 48-ball 76, while Deepak Hooda made 50 runs off 31 balls to guide LSG to a decent total of 196 for 5. After being sent into bat, LSG relied on the 115-run partnership between Rahul and Hooda for the third wicket to put up a fighting total. Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowler for RR, returning with figures of 2 for 31.
Let’s take a look at the highlights from the match:
1. Yash Thakur cleans up Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler was looking well set for yet another match-winning knock. He has put up a 60-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, chasing a target of 197. Yash Thakur was bowling the final over of the powerplay and Buttler hit him for a boundary early on. He bowled the fuller delivery in the form of his final ball. Buttler shuffled only to see his timber getting dislodged.
2. Trent Boult shatters wicket to dismiss Quinton de Kock
With IPL 2024 being termed as the batter's tournament, bowlers like Trent Boult time and again provide proof of their excellence. Bowling the first over, he was hit for boundaries on the first two deliveries. He then came up with a short-of-a-length delivery which seamed up and pierced through Quinton de Kock’s defence.
3. KL Rahul unleashed his classic flick against Avesh Khan
KL Rahul is one of the most complete batters with an array of shots at his disposal. His flick is synonymous with his class. Avesh Khan bowled a fuller delivery at legs to the LSG skipper. And the wicket-keeper batter as usually flicked one that sailed over the boundary line for a maximum.
