Rajasthan Royals continued their winning run in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) as they beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets in Match 14 on Monday, April 01 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. After being put in to bat first, MI could only score 125/9 in 20 overs with captain Hardik Pandya top scoring with his knock of 34 (21).

In reply, Rajasthan chased down the target in 15.3 overs courtesy of another Riyan Parag masterclass whose half-century kept them afloat in the chase. As a result, RR climbed to the top of the points table with six points from three games while MI are languishing at the bottom after three consecutive losses.

Let’s take a look at the highlights from the match:

1. Trent Boult runs through MI’s top order

The left-arm seamer once again continued his tradition of bringing the opposition down to their knees in the first over itself by picking a couple of wickets first up. Boult got rid of Rohit Sharma for a golden duck making him edge one straight to the wicketkeeper. He further got rid of Naman Dhir and Dewald Brevis as well for golden ducks to leave MI reeling at 14/3 after 2.2 overs. As a result, he registered figures of 3/22 in four overs.

2. Aakash Madhwal keeps MI in the game with twin strikes

After impressing everyone in his debut season, Madhwal once again shone in the first game of the 2024 edition as he kept MI’s hopes alive with his triple strikes. The right-arm seamer got prized scalps of Sanju Samson (12 off 10), Jos Buttler (13 off 16) and Ravichandran Ashwin (16 off 16). The 30-year-old finished with figures of 3/20 in four overs but couldn’t save his team from a loss.

3. Riyan Parag continues his golden run

The 22-year-old continued his rich form in the season playing a brilliant knock of 54* (39) with the help of five fours and three sixes. Parag took his time early and unleashed his beast mode in the end to guide his team over the line in 15.3 overs. He also became the joint-highest run scorer of the season with 181 runs to his name from three innings at an average of 181 at an average of 160.17 and an average of 181.
