Cameron Green is set to the don the outfit of Mumbai Indians as the franchise acquired the services of the Australian all-rounder at a whopping INR 17.50 Cr. The Aussie entered the auction at INR 2 crore bracket and saw strong interest from multiple franchises.

Interestingly, the auction saw a massive bidding war starting with the five-time IPL winners and Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the swift raising of paddles was put to halt as RCB have a small kitty and will need to manage their finances. The bidding war, then, continued with Delhi Capitals and the side gave the Mumbai franchise a run for their money. Eventually, it appeared that Mumbai wanted the services of Green a bit more as compared with the Delhi side and acquired him for a massive number.

Green has featured in 21 T20 outings wherein he has amassed 245 runs with two half-centuries at a strike rate of 137.64. Adding to this, he has taken five wickets in his eight innings and has garnered a lot of attention following his impressive performances this year which has taken the international circuit by storm.

It will be an exciting opportunity: Cameron Green

Earlier in November, he opened up on making himself available for the lucrative T20 league in order to garner experience and stated that the exposure to the tournament will help him get refined as a player in the shortest format.

"I have registered for it. It will be an exciting opportunity. Speaking to a lot of guys, especially in the WA (Western Australia) set up about their experiences in the IPL, they speak so highly of it. They speak about the quality coaches that you are around, the quality players that you are around. They are all the best in the world at their craft,” Green was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au in November.

On Thursday, a source close to the apex cricket board, the BCCI confirmed that Green along with Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran will be made available for the entirety of the league in 2023. The statements come after there seemed to have been a conflict over having the national matches and the IPL games clashing during the same time. However, the franchises will be relieved that the players will not miss the league next year and help them in the competition. Fans of the Mumbai Indians will be elated to have the services of the all-rounder and will hope to get hands on their sixth title come IPL 2023.
