PAK vs WI, 1st Test Day 3 Review: Pakistan breeze past West Indies with exceptional bowling performance
Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 127 runs.
Pakistan and the West Indies continued their first Test of the ongoing series. Both sides locked horns on day 3 of the first Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Day 3 of the first Test began with Pakistan on a score of 150 in the second innings of the game. Not being able to post a bigger target on the board, Pakistan were limited to a score of 157 runs in the second innings, giving the visitors a target of 251 runs.
As for the West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the highest wicket taker in the second innings with seven wickets to his name. Gudakesh Motie took one wicket as well.
Aiming to chase down a target of 251 runs, the West Indies opened their innings with Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis scoring 12 and 13 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Keacy Carty scored six runs, alongside Kavem Hodge who departed for a duck.
After the horrid start, Alick Athanaze aimed at playing a resilient knock, as he amassed 55 runs in 68 deliveries. However, after him, none of the batters amounted to much. Justin Greaves departed for just nine runs, with Tevin Imlach adding 14 runs on the board.
The West Indies were limited on a score of 123 runs in the second innings as Pakistan won the game by 127 runs. In the second innings, Sajid Khan was the highest wicket taker for the hosts with five wickets to his name. Abrar Ahmed took four wickets with Noman Ali striking once as well. With the win in the first Test secured, Pakistan will hope for a similar showing in the second Test as well.
Speaking of the second Test, the upcoming encounter will also be played at the same venue, and the hosts will look to whitewash the opposition before moving their focus to the white-ball cricket for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Meanwhile, the West Indies would want to end the series on level terms with a win in the forthcoming five-day fixture.
