The former Windies skipper Jason Holder has found a new franchise after IPL 2022 runner-up Rajasthan Royals captured the signature of the star all-rounder in the IPL 2023 auction. Holder, who represented the newly introduced Lucknow Super Giants last season, was bought for a sum of 5.75 crore.

The giant of a cricketer had a decent outing for the Lucknow-based franchise in their maiden campaign in IPL, scalping 14 wickets in 12 appearances. His performances guided them to a playoff finish in IPL 2022. He had a base price of 2 crore after being brought for 8.75 crores in last year's mega-auction by LSG.

Holder's first appearance in the competition came for the four-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings in 2013 after the MS Dhoni-led side captured his signing just two days after he made his international debut for the West Indies. Since then, he has featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and most recently, the Lucknow Super Giants in the cash-rich league.

His addition will provide an extra layer of stability for Sanju Samson's side, who missed out on their second IPL title earlier this year after defeat to the newcomers Gujarat Titans in the final. He has been a feature for several franchises in different domestic leagues all across the globe and boasts vast experience in the format. Kumar Sangakkara will hope to get the best out of the vastly experienced West Indian all-rounder in an attempt to go all the way in next year's tournament.
