Ranji Trophy 2022-23: Twitter erupts after Prithvi Shaw smashes triple century against Assam
Shaw was dismissed by Riyan Parag after scoring 379 runs in the match.
Young India opener Prithvi Shaw once again made the headlines after a dominating performance against Assam in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. The 23-year-old has hit a phenomenal triple century (379) in the match and with that, he is once again trending all over social media.
His knock against the Gokul Sharma-led side is also the highest by any Mumbai cricketer in the history of this tournament. This is also the second-highest individual score ever in the tournament. He kept the bowlers under pressure right from the start and managed to keep his strike rate close to 100, which can be considered as phenomenal in the longest format of the game.
Now, just when Shaw was expected to score his maiden quadruple-century, Riyan Parag got the better of him. He failed to connect the ball as it hit his pad and was later given LBW by the umpire.
Notably, ever since Shaw has been axed from the national team, he has played some brilliant cricket in the domestic circuit but never got another opportunity to make a comeback. With this knock, he surely will be knocking on the selectors’ door and will be hoping to get into the Indian team in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.
