Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a massive 228/4 courtesy of Harry Brook's 100 off 55 and skipper Aiden Markram's. Notably, the Hyderabad-based franchise got off to a brisk start in the powerplay with 65 runs in 1-6 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Upon winning the toss, Nitish Rana put the visitors to bat first. Sunrisers’ opening duo of Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal got off to a brisk start as they targeted KKR form the first over of the innings.
Brook registered his fifty off 32 balls with two maximums and five boundaries to his name. In addition to this, he raised a 72-run stand with Markram that kept SRH in complete control. Following the conclusion of the second ‘strategic timeout’, the flamboyant right-hander clobbered 23 runs off express pacer Lockie Ferguson’s over.
Interestingly, KKR missed the golden chance to send Brook back to the dugout as he was dropped by young Suyash Sharma on 45. Capitalizing on this, the southpaw continued to dominate throughout the course of the first innings to hand his side a competitive total. Impressively, the batter got runs from all parts of the ground as he decided to play some exquisite shots all over.
Markram too got a few off those big runs and scored his fifty off 25 balls and was dismissed the very next ball by Varun Chakravarthy. Meanwhile, Brook notched up his century in the final over of the innings, going back unbeaten on 100 off 55, including 12 fours and three sixes.
Here is how Twitter buzzed to Harry Brooks' majestic knock against KKR:
