The match number 67 of the ongoing IPL is witnessing an intriguing battle as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. A win for CSK will mean that they will definitely qualify for the playoffs and will boost their chances to finish in the top two.
Understanding the gravity of the situation both Chennai openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad yet again gave proof of why they are rated so highly in the IPL circuit. Indeed that was the case, as they both added 141 runs for the first wicket. Meanwhile, the duo also completed 1000 run partnership in 20 innings between them.
Gaikwad looked in sublime touch from the first ball that he faced. The 26-year-old scored his first boundary in the very first over of the match when the opener hit a back-of-a-length delivery to the fence.
The right-hand batter from India went on to score his third fifty of the season in just 37 balls with 3 fours and 3 eye-catching sixes. After completing his half-century, Gaikwad broke the shackles when he blasted Kuldeep Yadav for three massive sixes on three consecutive deliveries. The Pune-born batter looked a force to reckon with during his innings but soon got out to Chetan Sakariya, who looked one of the most impressive of the DC bowlers.
On the other hand, DC looked out of sorts with their bowling as their bowlers found it difficult to hit the right line on a pitch that had a little bit of assistance for the seamers early on. Chetan Sakariya was the most successful bowler for Delhi and ended up with figures of 1/36 in his 4 overs.
