The second ODI of the ongoing series between India and Australia got off to a brilliant start for the hosts. Coming in to bat first after losing the toss, team India looked to post a big total on the board, and the side did just that.

After Ruturaj Gaikwad’s early dismissal for just eight runs, opener Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer helped the side maintain their composure and stabilise their innings. Iyer, who had been in and out of the squad in recent weeks due to injury, showed why he belongs, scoring 105 runs in 90 deliveries.

Iyer put forth a sensational performance and was accompanied by Shubman Gill, who completed his century as well. Gill amassed 104 runs in 97 balls before he was dismissed by Cameron Green in the 35th over. Both Gill and Iyer’s knocks helped team India put pressure on Australia.

Both batters built a solid partnership of 200 runs in 164 deliveries before Iyer was sent back to the pavilion. Their knocks attracted many former and current stars to social media as they heaped praise on both batters’ performances in the second ODI.

India aim to clinch series in resounding fashion

Seeing the brilliant start that the Indian team has gotten off to in Indore, the side will be keen on posting a huge total on the board for Australia to chase down and will be hopeful that they will be able to go on to win the game as well.

Notably, team India won the first ODI of the series in Mohali, and they will win the series if they come out victorious in Indore as well, which will do the side’s confidence a world of good ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023.
