T20 World Cup 2024: NAM vs OMAN, Match 3 Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats, and more

Namibia and Oman clashed in an intense encounter during Match 3 of the T20 World Cup 2024, at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 3. After Namibia opted to bowl first post winning the toss, Ruben Trumplemann wreaked havoc on Oman's top order. He claimed the wickets of their top three batters within the powerplay. Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, and Ayaan Khan managed to score 22, 34, and 15 runs, respectively. But Oman struggled to post a competitive total, ending their innings at 109 runs with all wickets lost. 

In response, Namibia's Nikolaas Davin and Jan Frylinck displayed gritty batting performances, with Frylinck's 45 runs being the highest individual score of the match. However, with just five runs needed off the final over, Frylinck was dismissed by Mehran Khan. Mehran successfully defended the required runs, forcing the game into a thrilling Super Over. This marked the first Super Over in a T20 World Cup since 2012.

David Weise takes Namibia over the line single-handedly

On the back of David Weise’s sensational batting, Namibia amassed 21 runs in the powerplay. Chasing the daunting task, Zeeshan Maqsood and Aqil Ilyas managed just 10 runs and Namibia won the game comprehensively.

"Lost a couple of years tonight, don't know how many I have left in me now. Just been that kind of an emotionally draining game. (On his Super Over bowling) I had a feel for the wicket and knew what I had to execute in the Super Over. The pitch was difficult, was a bit two-paced and different to what we expected. I think we adapted well and it was surely a pitch where you had to spend some time out there. I think if we were chasing 180, we would have had to attack without thinking too much about the pitch, so tough to say what would have been a par total on this wicket," said Weise after receiving the Player of the Match award.
