Widely regarded as the ‘God of Cricket’, Sachin registered massive numbers against the best of the best.
From Wasim Akram, and Shoaib Akhtar to Brett Lee, and Glenn McGrath among others there are hardly any bowlers in world cricket who do not admire the Indian batter’s greatness. Having represented India for over 24 years, Tendulkar achieved a plethora of accolades and trophies throughout the course of his career, including the magnificent 2011 World Cup win.
Sachin recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ‘desert storm’ knock
Two days before Sachin turned 50, the former Indian batter celebrated 25 years of his iconic ‘desert storm’ knock against Australia in Sharjah. The celebration was part of an event held in Mumbai, where Tendulkar commemorated the celebration by cutting a cake and interacting with the fans that were present at the event.
The game was played on April 22, 1998, and was part of a triangular series between India, Australia, and New Zealand. After India got a revised target of 276 runs due to a sandstorm (285 runs originally), Tendulkar played a knock for the ages.
After playing a sensational knock of 143 runs off just 131 balls, Sachin solidified his stature as one of the best batters in world cricket (at that time). Despite the innings going in vain, the ‘desert storm’ knock is widely held by fans as one of the best ones ever.
