The Indian team finished the T20I series 4-1 as they kept their dominance against England at home. Another disappointing outing for the visitors who failed to get the better of the Indian team at the Wankhede Stadium, losing the fifth T20I by a monumental margin of 150 runs.

It was once again Jos Buttler who won the toss and put the Indian team into bat and straight away it was an Abhishek Sharma classic as the southpaw went on to score his second century, scoring 135 off 54 deliveries which included seven fours and 13 sixes. This knock along with some cameos from Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel made sure India got to a massive total of 247-9. This was enough to put pressure on any side that was coming to chase in a 20-over game.

The England batting did start well but unfortunately apart from star opener Philip Salt, who scored a magnificent half-century scoring 55 off 23 deliveries, none caused any further damage as they were finally bundled out for a paltry 97 in the end, making this a combined bowling effort where Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube contributed once again with the ball. Mohammed Shami ended up being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/25 in the end to mark a memorable performance in his comeback series.

Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek: Stars of the series

Both Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma were the real heroes of the series for India and were causing problems for the England team. Abhishek after this brilliant knock has ended the series as the leading run-scorer with 279 runs at an average of 55.80 and a strike rate of 219.68. He also contributed with three wickets across the series.

Chakravarthy, on the other hand, also had an exceptional campaign in the T20 leg, where he has ended up with 14 wickets in the five games, including a five-wicket haul in the Rajkot encounter. The leg-spinner also maintained an average of just 9.85 and a mind-boggling economy of 7.66. This was enough to become the Player of the Series for the leggie.
