Some moments in sports leave everyone speechless and the same happened when a 16-year-old, fresh from winning India the U-19 World Cup, handed the Mumbai Indians a brilliant four-wicket win by defeating defending champions' Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women at their home in match 7 of the WPL 2025 on Friday night.

The game began with Mumbai Indians electing to field first. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after losing early wickets, were rescued by Ellyse Perry’s sensational 81 off 43 balls. Her knock, laced with 11 boundaries and two sixes, powered RCB to 167/7 in 20 overs. In the process, she became the player with the most runs in WPL history. Smriti Mandhana (26 off 13) provided an average start, but Mumbai bowlers, including Amanjot Kaur (3/22), kept RCB under pressure.

Mumbai got off to a slow start, losing Yastika Bhatia (8) and Hayley Matthews (15) early. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt slammed 42 off just 21, keeping her team in the hunt. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the innings with an impactful fifty off 38 balls before falling in the 18th over.

With 22 needed off the last two overs, Amanjot Kaur (34* off 27) and Kamalini (11* off 8) kept their cool, ensuring MI got over the line. With six runs from the last over the young G Kamalini at the crease held her nerve and struck the winning runs with just one ball to spare, registering her name in WPL history as the youngest debutant to do so.
