On Day 3 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India, the hosts got wrapped up in their first innings on 445 runs. But removing the tailenders was not an easy task for the Australian team as Alex Carey, the last recognised batter made the Indian team frustrated at the end of the first session. He scored 70 runs off 88 balls, while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc pitched in with 20 and 18 runs, respectively.
Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with the ball for India as the star India pacer claimed six wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Nitish Reddy chipped in with two, and one wicket each. Just when India found no other way than exerting their traditional approach with the bat, the usual batting collapse followed as the top order trudged back to the pavilion in no time.
At one point, India were 22/3, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. The trio scored 4,1 and 3 runs when the visitors were in dire need of partnership amid rains pausing the proceedings. After the rain spell, it was Rishabh Pant’s turn to walk back scoring just nine runs leaving India reeling on 44/4.
The only resilient approach came from the Indian batting was through KL Rahul, as he looked in solid touch and remained unbeaten on 33* off 63 balls at Stumps on Day 3. He was joined by India skipper, Rohit Sharma in the middle as India's score read 51/4. It is worth noting that the visiting side still trail by 394 runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc claimed two wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins claimed a wicket each. In the end, the day was called off due to incessant rains with the Indian innings just 17 overs old.
Meanwhile, here's how the fans reacted to Day 3 of AUS vs IND 3rd Test:
Just 17 overs and India have highlighted their fragility again. The first innings batting is a major concern.

Come on YJ, It’s over now Answer with your Bat but not the mouth. Hope you turn the table now. #INDvAUS #INDvsAUS #CricketTwitter #BGT2025 #BGT24 #ViratKohli
As I said #ViratKohli𓃵 can't be Sachin, as Kohli hasn't learnt playing off stump deliveries for yearssss now, even the Great Tendulkar learnt within a series, example sydney test 2003, really disappointed that I would say I have given up on Kohli 🙏🏻😔🫣 #INDvsAUS

Some fortune for India 🇮🇳
Led by proper selection disasters both in squad and choice of shots.

There was no need from Kohli to poke a 5/6th stump line ball in the first 10 overs of the match.
We should now look ahead for the next WTC cycle and give chances to Jurel Sai Kishore Sarfaraz and others
