Visitors Bangladesh defeated the hosts West Indies by 27 runs in the second T20I, played at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This is the first time Bangladesh beat the West Indies in a T20 series since 2018.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and opted to bowl first on Wednesday, December 18. The visitors lost two wickets inside the first four overs before Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz tried to steady the ship. They formed a 28-run partnership before the combination of Alzarri Joseph and Andre Fletcher unfortunately ran out Sarkar.

Wickets kept on tumbling for Bangladesh as they were reduced to 88/7 in the 17th over after Mehidy (26) and Jaker Ali (21) couldn't convert their starts. However, Shamim Hossain, who came out to bat at number eight, played a mesmerising knock of 35 not out off 17 balls to lift Bangladesh to 129/7 in their 20 overs. The last 23 deliveries yielded 41 runs for the tourists as they put a fighting total on the board on a difficult track.

Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies as he finished with figures of 2/25 in four overs. Meanwhile, Akeal Hosein, Roston Chase, Alzarri, and Obed McCoy chipped in with one wicket apiece.

In reply, West Indies got off to a decent start as Johnson Charles and Brandon King added 19 runs in quick time. However, Taskin Ahmed stepped up and took two wickets in the third over to rock the home side.

Like Bangladesh's innings, wickets kept falling for the Windies at regular intervals. At 42/6, it seemed that West Indies' innings would be over in no time. However, Roston Chase's 47-run partnership with Akeal Hosein gave the Caribbean side the belief that they could bounce back in the game. After Chase's dismissal, it was always going to be tough for Akeal to take his team home single-handedly.

Akeal scored a run-a-ball 31 but couldn't manage to get West Indies the win that they were looking at. In the end, West Indies were dismissed by Bangladesh for 102 in 18.3 overs. Taskin stood out with the ball for Bangladesh as he bagged three wickets for 16 runs in 3.3 overs.
