Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the second day of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah mega auction on Monday, November 25. The veteran pacer was signed by for INR 10.75 crore.

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants were the first two teams to get into a bidding war for Bhuvneshwar. The five-time champions eventually backed out after Lucknow placed at bid of INR 10.50 crore. RCB joined the fray by placing a bid of INR 10.75 crore. This turned out to be the closing bid as Lucknow decided to stop the pursuit of signing the experienced campaigner.

Bhuvneshwar will be joining an impressive seam-bowling unit comprising players like Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Rasikh Salam. The 34-year-old's combination with Hazlewood with the new ball could be a visual treat for cricket enthusiasts. Apart from Bhuvneshwar's skills with the ball, he could guide the younger players in the side with his truckloads of experience.

Interestingly, Bhuvneshwar began his IPL journey with RCB, as he was a part of the franchise in 2009 and 2010. However, he couldn't get his maiden cap during his two-season stint. Bhuvneshwar will be reuniting with old friend Virat Kohli in Bengaluru and fans would love to see the two stalwarts playing alongside each other once again.

This ends Bhuvneshwar's 11-year stay at Sunrisers Hyderabad. He joined the Orange Army ahead of the 2014 edition of the IPL and won the coveted title in 2016. The Meerut-born also won the Purple Cap in that season. He achieved the same feat once again in the following edition.

Bhuvneshwar has played 176 IPL games in his career so far and picked up 181 wickets at an average of 27.23 and a strike rate of 21.60. His economy rate is a decent 7.56. RCB has had their fair share of struggles over the years with their death bowling but Bhuvneshwar's addition will give their fans a lot of confidence.
