Hosts Australia (AUS) completed a 3-0 series whitewash after beating Pakistan (PAK) in the third T20I by seven wickets at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, on Monday, November 18. Having lost the series following defeats in the first two games in Brisbane and Sydney, the tourists decided to give rest to their Captain, Mohammad Rizwan, and the experienced pacer, Naseem Shah. The young Pakistan team looked quite ordinary against the rampant Australians.
Salman Ali Agha stepped in as the captain for this encounter and he opted to bat first after winning the toss. Pakistan lost the wicket of Sahibzada Farhan in the second over after a brisk start. However, Babar Azam and Haseebullah Khan played well to add a 44-run partnership off 31 balls.
From a strong position at 61/1 in the seventh over, Pakistan slumped to 92/7 as Aaron Hardie and Adam Zampa bowled excellent spells through the middle overs. The seam-bowling all-rounder finished with figures of 3/21 in four overs. Meanwhile, Zampa conceded just 11 runs in his four overs and bagged two scalps as well. Shaheen Afridi scored a valiant 16 off 12 balls to take Pakistan beyond the 100-run mark. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 117 off 18.1 overs.
Spencer Johnson, who took a five-for in the second T20I backed it up with figures of 2/24 in 3.1 overs. Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis also chipped in with one wicket apiece. In reply, Australia lost Matthew Short early as the right-handed batter departed in the third over.
Jake Fraser-McGurk got off to another flying start but couldn't capitalise on it. After he was dismissed for an 11-ball 18, Marcus Stoinis joined captain Josh Inglis in the middle. While Inglis decided to bide his time, Stoinis went for the jugular as he took the Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners.
Inglis and Stoinis put on a 55-run stand off 38 balls before the former was dismissed in the 10th over. Tim David joined Stoinis at the crease and the two destructive batters took their team home with 52 balls to spare. The seam-bowling all-rounder finished unbeaten on 61 off 27 balls, having belted five fours and as many sixes in his exhilarating knock.
