India dismantled the Proteas in the final ODI of the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on the 11th of October, Tuesday, to secure another bilateral series win, their fifth against South Africa. The visitors, who took the field under a third different skipper in the series, were battered by seven wickets after being restricted for their second-lowest total against India in ODIs.

Defending a meager 99 runs on the board, South Africa needed a miraculous bowling effort to claim an unlikely series victory. But the slightest of hopes of a Protean win were extinguished by Shubhman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan as they added 42 runs in just six overs.

But the Indian skipper's quiet run with the bat in the series was extended after he was run out on six runs following a mix-up. One of the protagonists of India's series leveling win in Rachi, Ishan Kishan, followed suit soon after. That is when the in-form Shreyas Iyer (28*) and Shubhman Gill (49) joined hands to take India to the cusp of victory, with the former sealing the win with a handsome six.

Although Anrich Nortje produced a hostile bowling spell, a Rabada-less South Africa looked toothless for the second game in a row.

Mohammed Siraj and Indian spinners restrict South Africa to a modest total

Earlier in the match, Shikhar Dhawan opted to field first after winning the toss on a sluggish surface in Delhi. The visitors were rocked early, as Dhawan's move to bowl Washington Sunar in the powerplay got him the valuable wicket of Quinton de Kock. After that wicket, it was all India as Mohammed Siraj, who is in contention for a spot in the Indian T20 WC squad, dished out a fiery opening spell.

Siraj got rid of the in-form Reeza Hendricks and Janneman Malan in his spell to ensure India's best powerplay in ODIs since the 2019 World Cup. Heinrich Klaasen, South Africa's top scorer in the innings, threatened for a brief while before the spinners tightened the noose around the Protean batters.

Kuldeep Yadav had the South African batters on toast, scalping 4/18 in just under five overs. Kuldeep's partners in crime, Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar also impressed, scalping two wickets each. The Indian spinners accounted for eight of the ten wickets as the hosts restricted South Africa to a paltry score of 99, their fourth-lowest in ODIs.

Here is how Twitter reacted to India's utter dominance in the third ODI in Delhi:
