The day began with the Proteas resuming their innings on 256/5 with Dean Elgar (140*) and Marco Jansen at the crease. South Africa were all out for 408 and Jasprit Bumrah (4/69) was the pick of the bowlers for India.
Trailing by 163 runs in the second innings, India once again failed to get off to a great start as Kagiso Rabada once again accounted for captain Rohit Sharma for a duck by dismantling his stumps. Burger got rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal from the other end while Marco Jansen cleaned up Shubman Gill (26 off 37) after a good start to his innings.
