Team Australia completed an outstanding chase against the home team India as they chased down a total of 200+ runs and gained a lead in the three-match T20I series on September 20 (Tuesday).
Talking about the match, Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first. However, the home team gave a strong reply with the bat. A good start was given by the openers as both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started with a flurry of boundaries.
However, a spirited bowling performance from the Australian side meant that the visiting team made a strong comeback after scalping two crucial wickets of Rohit and star batter Virat Kohli. Despite losing two crucial wickets, Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav ensured that the home team did not take their foot off the paddle.
Just when it looked like that both Rahul and Suryakumar are set for big innings, the Men in Yellow showed why they are the world champions as the visiting team made a resounding comeback and scalped the wickets of both batters.
At one stage, it looked like that the Men in Blue will not cross the 180-run mark, but star all-rounder Hardik Pandya put forth an excellent batting display as the right-handed batter smoked 71* runs and helped his team to cross the 200-run mark in their allotted 20 overs. Pacer Nathan Ellis scalped three wickets for his side.
Cameron Green stuns the Indian team
Not many would have backed the visiting team to chase down 200 runs in their allotted 20 overs, but the rising star all-rounder Cameron Green stunned the Indian team as he thrashed each and every Indian bowler by opening the innings.
Some vital contributions were given by Steven Smith and Tim David, but the senior batter Matthew Wade held his nerves and finished the game for the visiting team. He remained unbeaten for his 45 runs in just 21 balls. Axar Patel was the only bowler for India who managed to keep the team in the game. He returned with the figures of 3/17 in his four overs but the rest of the bowlers just couldn't stop the run flow.
Meanwhile, here are some Twitter reactions:
Saying this again use Bhuvi for only one over in last 5 overs.
