England Women took on New Zealand Women in the first ODI at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on June 26. New Zealand Women won the toss and opted to bat first. Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer departed early scoring 16 and 29 respectively. Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine fell victim to Sophie Ecclestone scoring 10 and 13 respectively, as New Zealand were reeling at 75 for 4 at the end of 14 overs.

Maddy Green was picked by Nat Sciver-Brunt and Brooke Halliday continued her resistance against the formidable English bowling. Isabella Gaze and Hanna Rowe were plucked by Charlie Dean as she targeted the batters' pads. The lower order crumbled after Halliday departed playing a gritty knock of 51 runs in 60 deliveries. The Kiwis were bowled out inside 34 overs and they posted a meagre total of 156, losing all of their wickets.

While chasing, England openers, Tammy Beaumont and Maia Bouchier belted the New Zealand bowlers as they put up a solid 137 runs for the first wicket. Beaumont scored a splendid 76 off 69 deliveries, embellished with 11 boundaries and one maximum. On the other hand, Bouchier departed after scoring a fiery 67 off just 50 deliveries, laced with 12 boundaries and a maximum. Beaumont remained unbeaten and took England over the ropes in just 21.2 overs and they won the game by nine wickets.
